Kick-Ass Events
An esteemed panel presentation featuring Robert Maldonado (Green Zone Productions), Baby Doe (Tease-O-Rama), and Cameron Eng (Dark Room Productions)
Events are exciting, fun, create buzz and build community for your project or organization, but they also require a lot of planning and know-how! We bring in the experts (with experience covering theater, green events, parades and burlesque shows!) to talk about what goes into planning and executing a successful event. Bring your burning questions! Topics covered may include:
• How to make a (little bit of) profit!
• Finding and negotiating for a venue
• Laws around doing an event
• Finding and dealing with talent or vendors
• Getting sponsors and funding
• Promotion best ways to get the word out
Robert Maldonado formed Green Zone Productions (to be incorporated as a 501c) which brings green, holistic and socially conscious vendors, arts & crafts to fairs and festivals in the SF area. They did Zona Verde at Carnaval last year, and in conjunction with 2b1 Multimedia are organizing the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock in Golden Gate Park (October).
Baby Doe is the Artistic Director and Choreographer of San Francisco's only synchronized Go Go dance troupe The Devil-Ettes. She is also the Artistic Director of the FIRST ever all-burlesque convention Tease-O-Rama which has gained international notoriety and has established a growing community of neo-burlesque stars. With her husband Otto she produces the only west coast international tiki event called Tiki Oasis in sunny San Diego. Her love of the historical dances of the 60’s led Baby Doe to create a dance party for children called Pip Squeak A Go Go where she teaches the lost art of go go to the next generation.
Cameron Eng is a member of Dark Room Productions, Producer, Director, Actor, Superhero. Cameron has been a regular producer/ director for plays at the Dark Room for about 4 years. Present work - http://foulplaysf.com/
